Q: What is sublimation?
A: Sublimation is a specialized printing technique that allows for the transfer of vibrant images onto various materials. This process requires a specific type of printer—commonly an Epson ET-15000—that has been modified to utilize sublimation ink.
To begin, the desired image is printed onto special transfer paper using sublimation ink, which turns into gas when heated. Next, the printed transfer paper is placed on the product, such as a T-shirt, mug, or other substrates that are compatible with sublimation. Using a heat press, intense heat and pressure are applied, causing the sublimation ink to gasify and bond with the fibers of the material. Once cooled, the result is a high-quality, durable image that is vibrant and resistant to fading, making sublimation an ideal choice for customizable products.
Q: What type of sublimation ink do you utilize?
A: We utilize Hippo Sublimation Ink.
Q: What type of tumblers do you utilize?
A: We exclusively offer products that we firmly endorse. Our experience indicates that HOGG tumblers yield the best results, particularly the 20 oz skinny tumblers. In the near future, we intend to broaden our range to include larger and varied options; however, all tumblers we offer will consistently be sourced from HOGG.
Q. What kind of sublimation paper do you use and why?
A: In our evaluation of sublimation paper, we have tested several brands and have determined that HTVRONT is our preferred option. Our assessment indicates that HTVRONT provides superior ink quality, resulting in images that are markedly more vibrant compared to those produced with other brands. Furthermore, we appreciate that HTVRONT offers larger paper sizes compatible with our Epson printer, enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our printing processes.
Q: Can you sublimate an image that includes the color "white"?
A: Sublimation is an intricate process, especially when it comes to understanding how colors are represented on different materials. Our Epson ET-15000 printer utilizes Hippo Sublimation Ink, which is composed of four key colors: Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Notably, there is no dedicated white ink in this system.
As a result, the areas in your design that are intended to be white will actually take on the color of the substrate on which we’re sublimating the image. For instance, if the item is a white product, the white sections of your image will appear crisp and white. Conversely, if the item is silver, those same white areas will reflect a silver tone. This principle holds true for any color. So, if you choose a substrate that is purple, pink, blue, or orange, the design's white areas will reveal the underlying color of that material. In essence, the original hue of the product will shine through in place of any white design elements. Understanding this can help you better visualize how your finished product will look!
**Q: What is "Ghosting"?**
**A:** Ghosting is a common issue encountered during the sublimation printing process, where the transferred image does not completely adhere to the surface of the item being printed. This phenomenon can lead to noticeable imperfections, such as areas that appear dull or washed out, often resembling a white haze. In some cases, the image may also appear blurry or distorted. Ghosting typically occurs at the top or bottom edges of the item, where alignment or pressure may not be optimal. Proper preparation, including ensuring even pressure and temperature during the sublimation process, can help minimize the risk of ghosting and achieve a sharper, more vibrant final result.
**Q: What is a seam line?**
A: A seam line is the point where two edges of an image come together. It is where they meet. Depending on the image or pattern, the seam may be barely noticeable, while in other cases, it can appear as a distinct line running vertically down the product, separating two patterns that do not continue seamlessly.
Q: What is the duration for which the liquid in the tumblers remains hot or cold?
A: Based on our observations in East Texas, the tumblers demonstrate impressive insulation properties. When filled with ice, it has been noted that the ice remains intact for an extensive duration of 6 to 12 hours. This effectiveness is particularly beneficial during warm weather, as it allows for prolonged enjoyment of cold beverages. Similarly, when hot liquids, such as coffee or tea, are poured into the tumblers, they retain their heat for approximately 6 to 8 hours. This feature ensures that beverages remain at a desirable temperature for an extended period, providing convenience for users who may not consume their drinks immediately.
